Flossie Johnson, 90, the former wife of the late NASCAR legend Junior Johnson, died Thursday, April 9, 2020.
Flossie Johnson was well known for her country hospitality, charm and incredible cooking.
She had written popular cookbooks filled with recipes varying from desserts to cornbread.
She lived at the house built in the 1960’s by Junior Johnson, on Somers Road the Eastern Wilkes community of Hamptonville.
The first half of an auction of the personal property of a widely known Wilkes County native daughter drew hundreds of people from across North Carolina and.
Junior Johnson died in December 2019.
Mike Staley, the son of former North Wilkesboro Speedway owner the late Enoch Staley, said, “She was always a really nice to my family. My wife, Arlene, bought a lot of her cookbooks and really liked them.
We’d always see Flossie at a lot of NASCAR functions and talked with her.”
